The business of my shop includes making, retail and maintenance of violins and other string instruments. Skillful violin plate re-graduation and delicately coated highly responsive varnish compound are the two major factors that produce the outstanding sound of HCA made violins.
Wood Species and Setup: Wooden spiecies traditionally used for parts like spruce top plate, maple back plate, maple ribs, and ebony finger boards are used in HCA made violins.
The typical setup is the result of both my personal preference and selection of quality accessories: Piratro Pirazzi Evah Gold strings, Despiau Superieur bridge, rosewood tailpiece, rosewood end pin, and Wittner finetune pegs. The Wittner pegs may have an option to be coated with a rosewood color (not the Wittner factory rosewood handles) to match the color of the tailpiece and end pin. This will require additional work and higher cost though.
Note: do NOT pull the Wittner geared pegs. While this will not harm wooden pegs, this may relatively easily remove the knob from the axle of a Wittner geared peg. When this happens, the grease within the peg may leak. And when it is unlucky, the knob sometimes cannot easily be put back in place and will be stuck at the gear.
Titanium parts of select grade including the tailgut, bridge protectors, and e string fine tuner are typically used when setting up the violins.
Outfit: Since my shop does not make bows, NO bow is sold along with the instrument. But I will try to give away a bow of not-bad performance for each instrument sold and hope you will like to use it.
Service and Repair: On demand luthier service can be requested at flat rate. There is usually no service provided to the bow.
